Vibrant Hope – Your Past Is Your Past

Monday 5/17/2024
Acts 22:19-22 (NKJV) 19 So I said, ‘Lord, they know that in every synagogue I imprisoned and beat those who believe on You. 20 And when the blood of Your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by consenting to his death, and guarding the clothes of those who were killing him.’ 21 Then He said to me, ‘Depart, for I will send you far from here to the Gentiles.’ ”22 And they listened to him until this word, and then they raised their voices and said, “Away with such a fellow from the earth, for he is not fit to live!”

This passage recounts Paul’s testimony of his conversion and calling by God to be a witness to the Gentiles. Despite his past persecution of Christians, God chose Paul to be an instrument for spreading the Gospel among the Gentiles.

Here are a few recommendations:

  1. Recognize God’s transformative power: Paul’s story demonstrates that God can transform even the most unlikely individuals and use them for His purposes. Trust in God’s ability to work in your life and bring about positive change.
  2. Embrace your calling: Just as Paul embraced his calling to be a witness to the Gentiles, seek to discover and fulfil the unique purpose that God has for your life. Be open to where God may lead you and be willing to step out in faith.
  3. Persevere in the face of opposition: Paul faced intense opposition and persecution for his faith but remained steadfast in his commitment to God’s call on his life. Be prepared for challenges and opposition as you follow God’s leading, but trust in His strength to sustain you.

Prayer Points:

  1. Pray for a deeper understanding of God’s calling on your life and the courage to follow it faithfully.
  2. Ask God for wisdom and discernment as you navigate challenges and opposition in fulfilling your purpose.
  3. Seek God’s guidance and direction in every aspect of your life, trusting in His sovereignty and provision.
  4. Pray for a heart of compassion and love for those who may oppose or misunderstand you, following Paul’s example of extending grace and forgiveness to his enemies.
  5. Thank God for His transforming power and grace that can turn even the darkest moments of our past into opportunities for His glory.
