Vibrant Hope – Giving In Secret

Monday 5/18/2024

Matthew 6:4 (NKJV) 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

This verse is part of Jesus’ teachings on giving to the needy, prayer, and fasting in secret, rather than seeking recognition or praise from others. In this specific context, Jesus emphasises the importance of giving to those in need without paying attention to oneself. By giving in secret, one’s motives are pure and focused on pleasing God rather than seeking approval or recognition from others. The promise is that God, who sees what is done in secret, will reward those who give with a sincere and humble heart. Do not wait until someone begs for something before giving.

  1. Practice humility in giving: Follow Jesus’ example by giving to those in need with a humble and sincere heart, without seeking recognition or praise from others.
  2. Cultivate a heart of generosity: Develop a lifestyle of giving generously to those in need, whether through financial support, time, resources, or acts of kindness.
  3. Prioritize God’s approval: Focus on pleasing God with your actions rather than seeking approval or validation from people. Remember that God sees and knows the motives behind your giving.

Prayer Points:

  1. Ask God to help you develop a heart of generosity and compassion toward those in need.
  2. Pray for the strength and wisdom to give in secret, seeking only God’s approval and not the recognition of others.
  3. Seek God’s guidance on how you can be a blessing to others through your giving and ask for opportunities to show love and kindness to those in need.
  4. Pray for a spirit of humility and sincerity in your acts of generosity, knowing that God sees and rewards what is done with a pure heart.
  5. Thank God for His provision and blessings in your life and commit to being a faithful steward of the resources He has entrusted to you.
